One of the best things about a Fred Olsen River Cruise is that you get to enjoy relaxing journeys along meandering waterways in the comfort of our smaller-sized, more intimate cruise ships.

This French River Cruise is no exception, featuring unforgettable scenic cruising as The Braemar takes you to culture-rich towns via picturesque waterways.

First you’ll wake up to the sight of gorgeous French countryside and charming communes lining the banks of the Gironde and Garonne Rivers during an early morning cruise to the UNESCO-listed heart of beautiful Bordeaux. Docking overnight in the centre of this city allows you plenty of time to explore and discover the many highlights at leisure. The centuries-old Cathédrale St-André, fantastic Musée des Beaux-Arts, stunning Jardin Public and Esplanade des Quinconces,  home of the historic Monument aux Girondins, are just a selection to tick-off your ‘must-visit’ list. You can even take a trip to the magnificent Medoc region to sample delicious wines at a world-famous vineyard.

After calling into La Pallice for tours to pretty La Rochelle and the wonderful waterways of ‘Green Venice’ and visiting the quaint town of Honfleur; The Braemar will sail to the centre of Rouen. Make the most of your extended stay here to discover an abundance of unique sights and attractions, such as the striking gothic cathedral, ornate Palais de Justice, and the exact spot where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake. Alternatively join a tour to Paris to wander along the Champs Elysées and pose for photos at the iconic Eiffel Tower. Upon departure from Rouen you’ll glide along the winding River Seine as you head for home – the perfect end to this fantastic French River Cruise with IOW Tours.
