There is a self-guide your of the Royal Yacht Britannia and something unusual to start your day with a self-guided tour of the Rosslyn Chapel  – famed as the hiding place of the Holy Grail in “The Da Vinci Code.” Also visit the new Riverside Transport Museum in Glasgow, with a guided tour of The Kelpies on the way, before an afternoon at Glasgow Christmas Market.

ITINERARY

Thursday

Travel, stopping at Gretna Green. The World-Famous Old Blacksmith’s Centre, one of Scotland’s earliest visitor attractions. where curiosity has attracted travellers to visit Gretna Green since the mid-19th Century. Visitors would peer through the windows trying to catch a glimpse of a run-away couple getting married! Arrive late afternoon for dinner, Edinburgh Christmas Market is in Princes Street Gardens, which is directly opposite the hotel.

Friday

Something unusual to start your day with a self-guided tour of the Rosslyn Chapel  – famed as the hiding place of the Holy Grail in “The Da Vinci Code.” In the afternoon there’s a self-guided visit of the Royal Yacht Britannia, which needs little introduction. We return to the hotel to give you time to explore Edinburgh, and the markets.

Saturday

Free Day in Edinburgh. Explore the Castle, Markets, or visit the Scottish Parliament (free) – all are within walking distance.

Sunday

Start your day with a guided tour of the Kelpies. Standing at 100ft tall & weighing more than 300 tonnes each, the magical Kelpies are a man-made wonder and a feat of engineering. Continue to the Riverside Museum – Glasgow’s award-winning transport museum, with everything from skateboards to locomotives, to prams and cars. Walk through old Glasgow streets, visiting the shops, bar and subway. Climb aboard a train, tram or bus to get a real feel. Spend the afternoon at Glasgow Christmas Market in George Square.

Monday

Return Home with an interesting visit to the Devil’s Porridge Museum to break the journey.
