There is scenic tour, with a local guide, of the North Wessex AONB. Start you day at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Avebury, famed its Stone Circle. Entrance is included to the Alexander Keiller Musuem, opened in 1938. The Stables Gallery which has a wonderful display of the archaeological finds from the area. There is time to walk to the Stones or relax in the National Trust Hub with a coffee. We continue to Devizes,  a historic market town with a colourful Medieval past, wealth of history and architectural heritage with more than 500 listed buildings. It is regularly in the top 10 of the country’s favourite market towns and is home to three nationally-known visitor attractions. Entrance is included to the Wiltshire Museum,which has award-winning galleries that feature gold from the time of Stonehenge and tell the story of the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site. End the day in Marlborough. The High Street is one of the widest in the UK and lined on both sides with characterful old buildings housing an array of high quality shops. The town displays the confidence of wealth from times past, yet today remains vibrant and progressive with its own chic café culture and many independent shops. The Merchant’s House – one of the finest 17th century middle-class homes open to visitors in England – is also to be found on the High Street contains a wealth of period features, paintings and artefacts and on-going restoration and entrance with a guided tour is included. Among Marlborough’s many claims to fame is the mysterious Merlin’s Mound which can be found within the grounds of Marlborough College and is the reputed burial place of the wizard Merlin.

We head to West Wiltshire for a day out full of surprises. Travelling via Chippenham, stop at Bradford-on-Avon with a meet and greet, short guided walking tour and a morning to explore. One of the most compelling features about Bradford on Avon is its unique position on the edge of the Cotswolds facing the River Avon. The ancient bridge in the centre of the town remains its natural focus and the bridge still retains two of its original 13th-century arches. The historical view from the main bridge incorporates the hill above the town which is dotted with the old weavers’ cottages and the river bank flanked with the 19th-century former cloth mills.

In the afternoon we continue to Bowood House and Gardens. Discover the rich and fascinating history of Bowood House and the Lansdowne family, set within 100 acres of beautifully landscaped ‘Capability’ Brown Parkland. Surrounding the Georgian House is the Italian-inspired Terrace Garden, the Private Walled Gardens and the herbaceous border, all radiating colour throughout the seasons. A 90 minute guided tour is included.

There is a morning tour Lydiard House and Park, just a short drive from the hotel. The Palladian house, beautiful church, walled garden and formal parkland are the striking remains of a great country estate. Wander through the elegant state rooms of Lydiard House, containing original family furnishings, portraits and ornate plasterwork and see how the ornamental 18th century walled garden has been restored to its former glory. Entrance is include to both the house and gardens, with a guided tour. The driver will take you back to the hotel for an afternoon to relax, or will drop at the Mcarthur Glen Designer Outlet Centre, just a couple of miles from the hotel, which is also home to STEAM: Museum of the Great Western Railway (entrance not included).
