GoWightAway this September with IOW Tours as we take you to Chenies Manor Dahlia Festival.
Chenies Manor House is one of the UK’s finest Tudor Mansion Houses. Steeped in history, the Grade I Listed building is set in Buckinghamshire’s charming estate village of Chenies, overlooking the Chess Valley. The grounds boast award winning gardens and original 13th Century features including a Medieval well, a dungeon and a priest hole.
This autumn crown jewel, when the gardens come alive with all the dazzling dahlia colours; take in the many beautiful varieties of Dahlia the our award winning gardens.
The house was the venue for the filming of Tom’s Midnight Garden, as well as Midsomer Murders & Lewis.
There are a variety of gardens influenced by the Arts d Crafts movement, with a Tudor-style sunken garden, a white garden, Victorian kitchen garden and 2 mazes.
We make a full day out with a stop on the way at Runnymede & Anckerwycke, for lunch and to stretch your legs. Seen by many as the birthplace of modern democracy, this open landscape beside the Thames was witness to King John’s historic sealing of the Magna Carta over 80 years ago. As well as a monument to the democratic legacy of the Magna Carta, you’ll find memorials to John F. Kennedy and the Commonwealth Air Forces, and a unique installation by Hew Locke and Mark Wallinger. After your walk, stop off for a refreshing drink and homemade cake in the tea-room. You can also pick up souvenirs from the shop, from guidebooks and Magna Carta scrolls to pickles and chutneys.
